[Film] The Grand Budapest Hotel. Welcome to the world of Mustache.

Welcome to “The Grand Budapest Hotel”, the hotel was managed by a jumpy yet fashion manager and filled with nuts of all stripes.

Gay-ish
Here is a question. Why the bad guy, Dmitri Desgoffe(Adrien Brody) called Monsieur Gustave H. “fruit”?
a. He was easily rotten.
b. He was the BFF of all the female customers.
c. He was perfume addict.
d. All of above.

Obviously, the answer is “d”. In the film, Mr. Gustave suggested Madame D. (Dmitri’s aged mom) to change her nail’s color to match her skin.(have esthetic, check.) Wherever he was, even in the jail, wear the perfume heavily.(smell good ,check). Whenever he was, even being a fugitive, declaim poetry loudly.(read poetry, check). Being the BFF of all the female customers, and made them laugh all the time.(girls’ BFF, check) Paying attention on what he wears. (have a sense of fashion, big check ) . No wonder that his enemy, Dmitri, called him “fruit” (gay).

However, Mr. Gustave was not a fruit and not a vegetarian, either.

He was a predator. The prey he hunted was a far cry from other men’s. (Every man has his own taste, or , uh…, eccentric.) It was the age-old women. (His personal life was so dramatically promiscuous)Despite he was in line with all the conditions of being a gay man, we can’t judge people by their appearances. You know, there are some special cases and surprises. (He showed his surprising masculinity on protecting his lobby boy, Zero.)

Who runs the world? Mustache
It’s weird if a 5-stars hotel manager with mustaches or beard nowadays. Yet, it was very normal in 90’s. In a study performed by J.A. Reed and E.M. Blunk, showed that the men with facial hair were rated higher by the employers on aspects of masculinity, maturity, physical attractiveness, dominance, self-confidence, nonconformity, courage, industriousness, enthusiasm, intelligence, sincerity, and general competency.

Thus, there are a lot powerful people in the film with a variety of beard or mustaches. Mr. Gustave had a classic mustache to match his look of professional hotel manager. The bad guy, Dmitri, his is as crazy as Dali’s. The Inspector Henckels (Edward Norton) had the sexiest mustache in the film. The  young writer(Jude Law)’s was as same as the detective’s.

If you are the person who doesn’t have an ability to grow a beard or mustache, no worry, grab a black pen and draw two lines above ur upper lips, like what Zero did in the film. Then u can cut in the line of powerful people.

Greg. T. Brown

I believe the model, Greg. T. Brown, could be the President in the film.

Is this Hello Kitty's Palace?
