[Cover] Zachary Quinto - Spock's Candid Style

“AIDS has lost the edge of horror it possessed when it swept through the world in the ’80s. Today’s generation sees it more as something to live with and something to be much less fearful of. And that comes with a sense of, dare I say, laziness.” Quinto says.

This is truly a Spock’s style.

Zachary Quinto, the openly gay Hollywood star, is listed with the honor of Artist of the Year in Out 100 while Ellen Page and Sam Smith and other variety of outstanding stars are along with him in the list.

Yet no one is as bold as him in the interview.

When it comes to HIV/AIDS, he gives his opinion straightly and honestly. “I think there’s a tremendous sense of complacency in the LGBT community,” Quinto says, citing the rising number of HIV infections in adolescents.

Besides talking about HIV/AIDS, he shares his thought of prophylactic drugs, PrEP. “We need to be really vigilant and open about the fact that these drugs are not to be taken to increase our ability to have recreational sex,” he says. (Wow, has someone gave him “Honest Candy”? )

Sweetheart,
u know clearly that truth is like a sweat weapon which can hurt u and ur loved one badly. These words rub against LGBT community. They are literally not happy with his comments.

To respond the backlash of his comments, he writes an article on The Huffington Post.

“What troubles me -- and what I was trying to speak to in my interview -- is an attitude among (some of) the younger generation of gay men -- that we can let our guard down against this still very real threat to our collective well-being.”

I totally agree his opinion about HIV/AIDS and drug. Although I don’t live at the times when HIV/AIDS was like a horrible monster that no one can defeat, I believe no matter gay or straight guy should be more aware it nowadays as we live in the high-tech times and have sex with stranger becomes easier. Tap ur apps and someone will knock ur door as soon as possible. (In old days, we have to spend money on phoning, but now, it only costs ur battery)

Live in the high-tech times doesn’t mean that HIV/AIDS is diminished even there are more and more drugs can cure it. I don’t think lovely
Quinto means to anger LGBT community and the people who lives with HIV/AIDS. He just wants to bring the problem to the surface and let people face it.

“I was simply trying to assert my belief that we need to be especially vigilant and accountable to ourselves and one another at this moment in our evolution. “ he explains. I do agree with him and like I said on “Attitude Award” article.

We do need more heroes.
