[Music] Bright Light Bright Light - from Radiokid to Disco boy

A quick question: what turns folk boy into disco boy? The answer is : GAY DNA.
It makes sense that most gay people love dancing at club or home.

Radiokid
Can u believe Rod Thomas, asa “Bright Light Bright Light”, started his journey of music with folk music(I do buy it as he has a looking of “I play folk music ”, gentle, beard and gloomy.) According to mag ”hello mr. ”, he is a triple threat singer-songwriter-DJ and he manages the rehearsing, remixing, writing, recording, performing as well. How can he do these complicated things all by himself ? “As a child, part of the reason I started getting into music was that I had a lot of time after school. There was no one of my age around, apart from weekends when I would see my cousins. “ he said to the thequietus.com. To wit, independence makes him outstanding (That’s why he played folk at beginning, it is a solitary thing). A lot of plenty of time after school without wasting time on hanging around with other kids let him learn to play flute, piano and guitar radio and radio was his best friend and music mentor. He admits that he was always drawn to house and synthpop while listening to radio.(I told u this ‘s all because of DNA)

Before starting his 90’s pop career, he took bartending work and performing in London’s tube station to let his brainchild heard by "Mass".(What a independent boy!)

Storyteller
“And it hurts to be so young, to be so misunderstood, feeling all the bad take over the good” this is the lyric from the song “Immature”.

He studied English Literature and Creative Writing at Warwick University.
I'm not some sort of genius working away in a laboratory; I just want to make music that people can relate to” he said. His music is not as shallow as dance pop music puts “shack ur booty ” or “put ur hands in the air” in lyric, yet not as hard to understand as poem.  Rod is more of a storyteller than a heart-on-sleeve lyricist. The inspiration comes from his or his friends’ stories. To him, producing this album” Make Me Believe In Hope - released June 2012” is like editing a collection of stories!

Rod launched his latest single “I Wish We Were Leaving” features Elton John.Uncle John tipped Rod as one of ‘the hottest things on the music scene at the moment.(Come on, Uncle John, U are married.)As an opening gay, he is very humble when be considered as role model by gay people.” I don't feel like I have the right to be a mouthpiece for the gay world, but I am very much a part of it, and I am proud to be.” He said to
RUC Interview and added “sexuality doesn't have to be the one feature that defines them to the rest of the world. It's one piece in a puzzle. Of course it can be if they want it to be, but it doesn't HAVE to be.”

For some reasons, we do need a Disco hero on dance floor
.

FYI: The stage name”Bright Light Bright Light” comes from one of hid favorite films “Gremlins”, and he joined Scissor Sister tour in 2013.

He will launch his new album soon in 2014. However, I want to share his stylish and colorful(so to speak, so gay) music video Let’s take a look at it.
